“A Cheaper Rental Car Company” is a small family business specialising in affordable, cheaper, budget, backpacker everyday type rental hire cars.

For car hire transport around the local Wellington, Tawa, Johnsonville, Whitby Petone, Porirua and Hutt Valley including Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt area.

We are an inexpensive option for someone on a budget or just not requiring an expensive new car for travelling around the local Wellington area.

You will find our rates and service very attractive especially for longer hires.

Terms and conditions of rental car hire

Rental Conditions
Drivers must be over 21 years of age and able to produce a valid full NZ or International drivers licence they have held for 12 months. We also accept US, Australian, Canadian, United Kingdom and European Licences. Cars and vans are not to be driven above snow line, on gravel roads, on the beach or off road. The insurance deductible/excess is required as a deposit when hiring a vehicle, this is payable by credit card imprint or cash.

Rental Duration
One hire day is 24 hours. There are no refunds for hires shorter than time agreed to on contract.

Deposit
Once booking is confirmed, a $100 deposit is required during peak seasons. We reserve the right to charge you three days if you do not “show”.

Rental cars and hire rates

Please contact us for a quote for your rental car as rates change depending on the season and length of hire.

Ask about our long term rental car hire rates as they are very very competitive.

The minimum hire period is 3 days for all vehicles.

For 7 days or longer the following car hire rates are available for local hires (Wellington Region).

Small car         1300cc 2 door      $29/day + GST    unlimited ks
Medium Car    1500cc 4 door     $34/day + GST    unlimited ks
Large Car        1800 cc 4 door     $39/day + GST    unlimited ks

Our prices are all GST exclusive. (They do not include the goods and services tax) but they do include insurance for drivers over 21 years of age and have had a full drivers licence for 12 months or longer

The insurance excess (deductible) is $750.00 NZ regardless of fault.
Our market is for hirers requiring an inexpensive car for travelling around the Wellington region and we offer well maintained lates 90s – early 2000’s for hire.

“A Cheaper Rental Car Company” is a small business owned and operated by Matt and Vicki Gibbons and family. We have been trading for over 17 years providing hirers with inexpensive reliable cars.

Our base is in Lower Hutt, but we will deliver and pick up cars in the Wellington-Hutt Valley areas. This is a free service and can be arranged at the time of booking a car by mutual agreement.

Hirers find this a very convenient and easy way of hiring a rental car.

Cars must be returned to the Wellington area. We don’t have drop off facilities in other areas or cities. Our speciality is cheaper rental cars for use in the Wellington – Hutt Valley areas.
